Acetone as a fuel additive

Acetone as a fuel additive

Acetone as a fuel additive

(OP)
With all the hub-bub about increaed fuel prices, I have been receiving some crazy emails about solutions.
This came by the other day http://pesn.com/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/

Anyone have insight as to other possible problems other than degredation of plastic seals and o-rings?

RE: Acetone as a fuel additive

There have been extensive discussions on this. The search function drives me nuts but I just happen to remember this one.--- Try

RE: Acetone as a fuel additive

to rwall:

There was a thread on using acetone here about 2 months ago. some members tried to show by the chemistry that acetone would not inprove fuel consumption. other members wrote about the safety issue of putting a flamable liquid in their fuel tank (?). without any comment or explanation, that thread disappeared, never to be heard of again. i think most of the comments were hostile to the idea. I had just joined this forum and was disappointed that a subject of such mild controversy could be taken off, as if it had never been posted. you probably will find more info doing a search on google. good luck

RE: Acetone as a fuel additive

If you check the conditions of use of the site you'll see that it is for work related questions by professional engineers.
