SW2006 Mates

SW2006 Mates

SW2006 Mates

If this doesn't get any better, I'll be uninstalling and going back to 05 at the end of the day.  I'm spending half of each day re-attaching mates.  It seems like every time I get things right, save a model and reopen, the mates are all messed up.

Is anybody else having this much trouble?

RE: SW2006 Mates

Yes.  It been discussed here a couple of times.  I see the problem in assemblies with mirrored and or derived parts.

Just a quick little update.  There are never any mate errors, just overdefine warnings.  And usually if I just keep working and adding more mates, they dissappear completely.  Or I can go and suppress a couple and then unsuppress and all the warnings are cleared.

I know I've seen this in 04 and 05 when we first started switching over too so maybe it won't be too bad once most of my files get saved up to 06.

RE: SW2006 Mates

I had that briefly in setting up a complex animation yesterday.  I saved the assembly, closed SW, and reopened the assembly--everything was OK.

RE: SW2006 Mates

Make a temp copy of the assy in a new folder somewhere. Update the files to SW 06, then open. Seee if you still get the errors.

RE: SW2006 Mates

Try ctrl-q a couple of times, for most issues it works just as well as closing and reopening a file, while it works much faster.

I sometimes have mate problems in SW2005 as well, I believe sometimes it is due to software bugs, other times I just over constrained my assy. For instance you'd like to avoid using a coincident mate where a parallel mate would have sufficed.
The supress and unsuppress method worked for me (sometimes you have to change the order of unsuppressing a bit)
