Stabilization in ABAQUS STANDARD

Stabilization in ABAQUS STANDARD

(OP)
Hi!!

I,m modeling a gasket model with 16 bolt loads. The gasket has a thickness of 0.8mm with hyperelastic behaviour defined for a second order reduced polynomial. The elements that discretize the gasket are hexaedral (linear, reduced integration). Since the material is not near incompressiblity (poisson´s ratio=0.4) i don´t use hybrid elements.

With this model i obtain a rigid body motion that is normal to the contact surfaces and i´m now trying the stabilization method that induces some normal and tangencial damping to the contact surfaces, in order to prevent this rigid body motion.
I want to know if anyone is familiar with this method, and what are the major dificulties concerning this approach.

Thanks!!!!
