Bronze or brass labyrinth seals

Bronze or brass labyrinth seals

(OP)
Dear forum members:
I am trying to replace some worn and deformed brass O-rings mounted on a generator shaft.
These O-rings form a labyrinth seal which keeps the oil inside the bearing housing.
The bronze seals are installed in several grooves machined on the shaft and retained with a caulking wire or fastening ring.
Could anybody please give the name of a manufacturer?

RE: Bronze or brass labyrinth seals

A lot of those types of seals were manufactured and installed at the OEM level.  Check with the manufacture of the generator.  If that doesn’t work there are many labyrinth seal manufacturers that can retro-fit this type of seal.  Try a google search for labyrinth seals or bearing isolators.

RE: Bronze or brass labyrinth seals

These seals could be windback seals, 8 TPI, designed to "screw" the oil back into the casing once a predetermined RPM has been achieved.  Turbocare can manufacture any seal of this nature, or any other "toothed" seal in my experience.
