WHY WHY WHY??? Ballon item #'s

Why does this always happen when I'm in a hurry???

I have an assy. 6 sub assy's in it. The sub assy's have a large # of parts.  BUt I just need a quick view of the overall with balloons with item numbers. Should be 1 though 6.

But SWx has decided to itemize each little part in all of the sub assy's as well.

WHY??? ARRRRRRRGH!!

RE: WHY WHY WHY??? Ballon item #'s

MMike1,
That is a setting in the Bill of Materials Properties, Click the radio button “Show top level subassemblies and parts only”.
This is Excel BOM I am using SolidWorks BOM maybe different.

When placing the BOM, make sure the BOM Type option is set to Top Level Only

Well I got it.

I wasn't going to do a BOM. This was just a quickie fax for someone.

Everything was set at top level. But what fixed it was to insert a BOM first, then do the labels. All was well after that.

Thanks all....
