sump pump problem

sump pump problem

sump pump problem

(OP)
Have a pedastal sump pump that no longer is pumping, bailed out water and when engaged the water shoots out the sides of the bottom of the pump. Cleaned around the sides of this but it didn't help. Just learned that there is a screen on the bottom, if it is clogged will it cause this problem. Thanks, hope that made sense.

RE: sump pump problem

Disconnect the electricity and piping from the pump and take it outside and wash it off. Turn it over and look at the screen. If plugged, clean it out. Put the pump in a large garbage can and run it. see what happens. If nothing replace the pump with with a new one.
