Leakage inductance in a transformer

Leakage inductance in a transformer

Leakage inductance in a transformer

(OP)
I need to calculate the leakage inductances of the primary and seconday windings in a transformer, based on the geometry of the coils and core...

From looking at the theory, I am thinking that it would be possible to calculate the self-induatance of each coil using the Neumann formula[1], and that this would in fact be equal to the leakage inductance. I think this would be true as the leakage inductance in a transformer seems to refer to the flux path in the air around each coil, ie the flux path that doesn't go through the core, and I think self-inductance is the same thing...

Am I at all right about this?

Thanks for your help!
