Hydrogen Sulfide separation

Hydrogen Sulfide separation

Hydrogen Sulfide separation

(OP)
I noticed that petroleum separates hydrogen sulfide, but is it possible to reclaim the Hydrogen as a useable product from pulp and paper waste streams?

RE: Hydrogen Sulfide separation

The answer may be that it is possible and not practicle.  A gas processing facility may receive 1000 psig sour gas with 1000 ppm H2S.  The amine sweetening unit removes H2S from the sour gas by concentrating the hydrogen sulfide.  The market is clear for the sweet gas produced but not necessarily so for the concentrated acid gas with over 30% H2S.  The acid gas may be further processed for commercial purposes, reinjected to maintain the field pressure, incinerated, etc.  Fewer options exist with low pressure gas at a paper mill.
