Best Configuration with less money - Pro/E Pro/E Widfire 2.0

(OP)
Hi,

We are updating ours desktops to new models from Dell. I saw at PTC.com some configurations that they recomended. I would like to know how many memory I am supposed to use. I don't know if I put 4GB, Pro/E will use all. Maybe, is better if I use 2GB. We will use Windows XP Professional in this machines.

Regards,

PauO Tumilasci

RE: Best Configuration with less money - Pro/E Pro/E Widfire 2.0

Your limitation is that Pro/E will only use 1.4-1.6GB of RAM before it closes with a default installation of XP.
You can modify the boot.ini witha /3GB switch but even then Pro/E closes at 1.6-1.9GB of memory used.

If you go with Windows XP64bit, then you can put and use more RAM with Pro/E. Remember that unless you are using PDMLink, there is no data management (Intralink) software that runs on WinXP64.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.
