when we are inspecting the component which are constructed base on ASME SecVIII or SecI there are no criteria for acceptance of visual defects . for example in AWS D1.1 there is a table in part6 which describe all of the criterias for visual inspection. could anybody help me please?

RE: asme visual inspection

Off hand  UW 31, UW 33, & UW 35 come to mind.

RE: asme visual inspection

Basically, Section VIII and Section I do not recognize Visual Inspection as NDT. Only ASME B31.1 makes specific reference to Visual Examination.

RE: asme visual inspection

Hi,

So far I have used EN-ISO 5817 and ASME/AWS B1.11

Regards.

RE: asme visual inspection

Also refer to PW-40.1 and UW-38. These sections essentially add the flaw limits listed in PW-51 and UW-51 to visual examination of welds.

RE: asme visual inspection

Be surprise that ASME accepts AWS D1.1 for vissual inspection.
Vissual Inspection/examination is part of the ASME NDT,
Construction Sections and also Sec IX
I see that some persons do not agree or support with this

there are some difference between points of AWS D1.1 and ASME . for example criteria of acceptance for undercut and reinforcement for aws and asme are different.
