supressing folders in an assembly

supressing folders in an assembly

supressing folders in an assembly

(OP)
In an assembly why can I RMB and supress or unsupress a folder and all the parts/sub assemblies in that folder will supress and unsupress following the folder.  But when I insert that folder in a DT and supress or unsupress it only the folder supresses and unsupresses not any thing with in that folder?  Hopefully that was clear enough.

How can I controll the state of multiple parts sub assy's with out having to input each individually in the DT.

RE: supressing folders in an assembly

Did you find an answer/workaround? Did you ask your VAR?

RE: supressing folders in an assembly

Does anyone know if this was fixed in SW06?

Time to update your signature perhaps?

Please let us know when you have tried it in SW06.

RE: supressing folders in an assembly

Even though there are parts in the folder, there is no parent child relationship here so all you are doing is suppressing the folder. I think you will still to be required to set each part/sub-assembly in the DT if you want it to be suppressed.

Bug or enhancement? I mean, why would you want to suppress the folder but not the components contained within.

I totally agree!  What good is supressing just a folder?  I think if the folder contains all relative parts or sub ass'y. Then supressing just 1 folder as opposed to say 5 invidual components would be beneficail to the SW user. Just my oppinion!

I think I'll submit as enhancement request.

I didn't say I don't agree, but that's just the way I understand the process here.

I would place and enhancement request in, but if you don't here back from your VAR call SW directly. This will get your VAR"s attention if they don't call you back.

RE: supressing folders in an assembly

Has anyone tried this in SW06 yet?

The folder & its contents get suppressed/unsupressed when using the RMB method on the folder, so you would think it would do the same when in a DT. If its not a bug, it's definitely a limitation. I agree with Scott, submit it as an ER & let VAR/SW treat it as whatever it is.

Is there a separate Bug reporting section/method with VARs/SW?

No it's same result in SW 06.

I did a quick test with the same ass'y I originally used and got the same result.  Folder supresses not components/sub ass'y with in folder.

It's always worked right when right clicking in the tree? The design table has never done it the same though.

I think I figured out why it doesn't work in a DT.  You unsupress/supress the folder and components are suppressed/resolved.
