Writing case for recommendations
Writing case for recommendations
(OP)
What is the preferred case for writing recommendations?
ex: We recommend .... We calculated that...
or
It is recommended that ...It was calculated that...
Personally I think the latter sound more authoritarian and professional and not so much like an opinion.
Any thoughts

RE: Writing case for recommendations
Calculations indicate...
I would just keep it simple.
RE: Writing case for recommendations
Instead of “my actuator is less complicated” say “this actuator has fewer parts”.
Instead of “your design won’t work” say “something is wrong with the calculations”.
Keeping a discussion of a design or opinion from becoming personal takes a bit of effort and practice but really pays off.
With the above in mind….
The analysis of the current data indicates….
The measurements taken so far…
All of the data gathered so far…
The load calculations…

RE: Writing case for recommendations
the data ARE (plural: show)
the datum IS (singular: shows)
avoid it all by using "the data points show"

"According to my calculations the problem doesn't exist."
