AutoCad2000 locks up when trying to osnap

Help!
I am running AutoCad 2000 and it locks up whenever I try to osnap an object. It seems to happen on complex solids, but also seems to happen more and more often. It seems like the program is struggling trying to select the snap point and just locks up. Does this seem more like AutoCad issue, a specific solid model issue (doubtful because it happens on many different files)or a PC issue??

RE: AutoCad2000 locks up when trying to osnap

Instead of using running osnaps, try picking a certain one (eg ENDPOINT) and then selecting. AutoCAD does a lot of on the fly calculating to find those points. Zooming in really close can help too.
