uplift on spillway chute

(OP)
I am designing a spillway chute and calculating the forces which will be applied to the slab.  The chute is uniform width, straight and is to be constructed with a straight grade without any grade breaks or vertical curves.  Will there be any substantial hydrodynamic uplift or down forces due to the high velocity?  I am looking for references with theory / equations.

RE: uplift on spillway chute

I suggest "Design Of Small Dams" U.S. Bureau of Reclamation as the start.  If the information in it is not sufficient, it has excellent references.

RE: uplift on spillway chute

The maximum hydrodynamic uplift will be limited to vaccum.

Hope this helps.

Ciao.
