Creating IGES files of Big Assemblies

(OP)
I'm trying to export my assembly as an IGES files so that someone else can bring it into 3D StudioMax.  He is creating a DirectX model for visualization purposes.

My question is that he doesn't need alot of the fastners and smaller parts that are in the assembly and sub-assemblies.  Is there anyway for me to export only selected parts to the IGES file?

And if possible to avoid alot of extra work or files (if possible)

RE: Creating IGES files of Big Assemblies

Hi,

Export in parasolid first (there's an option to export only what is displayed). Then open the x_t in an asm format and save it in iges.

Thanks for the good advice. It made me notice that Options button, which I noticed was also available for IGES.

So you can use that option not export hidden parts with IGES files too.
