Selection Problem, Possible Video Card Issue?

Selection Problem, Possible Video Card Issue?

Selection Problem, Possible Video Card Issue?

(OP)
I have recently started having very strange display problems when working in Solidworks.  I have had instances where I have had a part open and in the process of editing that part, a surface will change texture/color.  One time it looked like it had shaded threads texture another time it looked like suede.  I have been able to deal with it because it didn't effect the functionality.  But today I have a much worse problem.  When in an assembly, I select on a surface and an adjacent surface highlights instead.  It is making it virtually impossible to mate items and to work within the assmembly.  I downloaded and installed the latest video driver from Solidworks and the problem is still there.  I brought my drawing up on various other computers and I cannot see a relation between hardware/software and the problem.

These are the computers I tried:
Computer #1 (Mine)
SWX 2005 Version 4.0
Windows XP
Dell P450, Xeon CPU 2.80 GHz, 2 GB RAM
nVidia Quadro FX 1000 Driver Version 7.1.8.4 2/24/2005
Problem present

Computer #2 (Identical hardware/software to mine)
Problem present

Computer #3
Windows 2000
Dell Xeon CPU 1.70 GHz, ? GB RAM
nVidia Quadro 2 Pro
Solidworks 2004 Version 4.0
Problem not there

Computer #4
Windows 2000
Dell Xeon CPU 1.70 GHz, ? GB RAM
nVidia Quadro 2 Pro
Solidworks 2004 Version 3.0
Problem there

I would appreciate any insight I can get.
Thanks

RE: Selection Problem, Possible Video Card Issue?

You were able to open a SW05 drawing using SW04 on Computers #3 & 4. ???

Sorry, that's a typo.
All computers are SWX 2005, just different service packs.

FAQ559-908
FAQ559-1058 - If this improves your display, you might have a corrupt or conflict in drivers. You will need to uninstall the latest driver, reboot (Make sure the Windows VGA driver takes over), then install the latest driver, reboot, and test.

You should run each machine on the same SP to ensure all machines are at least running the same SP for a through test.

Start\Run\dxdiag - The first tab will tell you how much RAM you have per machine.
