During our soldering operation, flux is applied to the part that contains six different types of chlorides.  After which, the parts go through an ultrasonic cleaning system to remove the chlorides and make the parts oxygen serviceable (the removal of hydrocarbons).

The first step in cleaning is a 2% HCL (to neutralize the flux), next is static DI, next tank has sodium bicarbonate (to neutralize the HCL), next tank has DI rinse, the next tank has ultrasonic cleaning solution (to remove hydrocarbons), the next tank is DI rinse and the last tank dries the parts.  This process has worked for 5 years but being ISO certified, we need to verify that it is up to specification.  That means we have to develop a spec based on our current process.

The question, what would be the best way to routinely test the tanks for chlorides and hydrocarbons?

Thank-you
Wayne
