Plastic squeeze tubes (similar to a toothpaste tube) are manufactured by extruding a tube then fusing or molding a threaded end in place. The finished tubes are then printed /decorated before being filled and sealed. I am looking for detailed specifications or parameters concerning the design of plastic squeeze tubes.

Tooth paste tubes have a number of design parameters that are specific to tooth paste, like flavor retention, resistance to stress crack in the presence of some chemicals and food contact approval.

Are you just looking for the physical properties or do you need the same properties in every regard.

I am looking for any information I can get in regard to monolayer plastic tubes. I realise that toothpaste tubes need to have barrier properties and were a bad example to use. I assume that the tubes have no draft as they are extruded, would there be a problem if the tubes did have draft? We are looking at various other ways of manufacturing the tubes.

It is very difficult to extrude tube with controlled draft, as the only way to do it would be with take off speed or calibrator variations. Not doable in practise.

If you need draft you will need to injection mould.

If you can use draft from nozzle or cap end to base, base being bigger, you can mould in the shoulder and neck, then you only need to weld the base in.

What properties are you looking for. Weld-ability, squeeze force required, resilience, decorating techniques and durability of finish.

Your question is just to general to answer.
