Mirroring a part AND drawing

Mirroring a part AND drawing

Mirroring a part AND drawing

(OP)
We use handed parts quite frequently, and I am trying to come up with a way of detailing only one part, and using all that info for the mirrored part.

Here it is in real terms. I have an assembly file with a part called "left.sldprt", and a drawing called "left.slddrw". Now I want to create a file called "right.sldprt" and use the existing detail info for a new file called "right.slddrw"

I've done a bit of searching, and I'm only find half of an answer to my question, so any clear concise help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Mirroring a part AND drawing

I use dash numbers to signify LH & RH.  I show them in the same drawing and identify them as -001 & -002.  Sometime I will indicate a mirror line if it's not obvious.

RE: Mirroring a part AND drawing

We use the same practice as Heckler.  We typically detail the -001 and state the -002 is a mirror of -001.  We will show isometric views of both parts.

yeah, but I need seperate drawings for the left and right. how do I make the "right" drawing from the "left" drawing. All dimensions are already there, and all notes, they just need to flip somehow

RE: Mirroring a part AND drawing

Insert/Mirror Part - Make a mirror os the part and insert that into a new drawing or a separate Sheet.

I'm not having a problem creating the mirrored part, I am having a problem using the exisitng left detail sheet, for the right part. It seems rather a difficult task to re-use the exact same dimensions for a mirrored part. All the info is there, do I really have to do it all manually again??

RE: Mirroring a part AND drawing

Yes, you will have to redim the mirrored part.

RE: Mirroring a part AND drawing

I understand your problem.  I'm no expert, but I have not found a way to create the mirrored drawing you are looking for.

Been there, done that... From all my research, there is no easy way.
