change reference set for linked part
change reference set for linked part
(OP)
I have tried to find related posts but no success so far...
Anyone know how to change the reference set defining a linked part in NX3?
For instance, if I originally created a linked part using the reference set "ENTIRE" but then wanted to chg the set to be a new custom one called "DATUMS&SKETCHES"...

Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler.
RE: change reference set for linked part
that's the conclusion I've come to. However, this implies one should make a custom Reference Set prior to creating a Linked Part using Wave & Master Model technique, so that there is flexibility in what drives the Linked Part.
If there is an alternative, I'm all ears :)
RE: change reference set for linked part
Many times I'll set the reference set of a component to Entire Part (be it top down, or a bottom up assembly). I'll wave link whatever data I want, like a sketch, which isn't part of the primary reference set. Once I have the data waved, I'll change the components reference set back to the primary reference set, so it shows in the assembly as it should.
In a top-down assembly, the only way I can show more data from the 'donar' component, is to open the higher assy, and change the reference set accordingly. In a bottom-up assembly, I can turn the 'donar' component on/off and change reference sets at will. Regardless of which reference set I select to display, the data that is waved remains the same, and is driven from the originating file.
