Dimension a Screw
Dimension a Screw
(OP)
I am trying to call out a screw spec. on a drawing. It is a M4 X 0.7 screw. Is there any other spec. to a screw other than the "M4 X 0.7" callout. What happened was the supplier sent us the screws as per the M4 X 0.7. But it failed our testing gages because they were a different "D" spec. I checked on various drafting standards. I could not find anymore information about a "D" spec. for screws. I would appreciate if anybody can give me soem information about this. Thank you.

RE: Dimension a Screw
You will find there the ISO metric screw threads Limits of sizes.
RE: Dimension a Screw
I cannot speak for the rest of the world but in Europe in the automotive trade it is normal to specify a DIN or ISO number to cover things like material, tolerance and finish/ coating.
Even if none of these matter, length is normal.
These might help.
