Hello, I'm having trouble with the graphics during the creation of the avi file while animating. 80% of the texture shows then it quits and comes back at the end. I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card. Do I need a different graphics card? I didn't see this one on the list at Solidworks.com.

RE: Animation graphics

Possibly. What are your other system specs?
Have you watched the Performance section in the Windows Task Manager to see what is happening at the point of crashing?

Scott, I ran the test. It does support open GL. It wasn't Greyed out. It was unchecked though. I tried the animation again an was still unsuccessful.
Thanks for your input.

RE: Animation graphics

Shawn,

Just so you know you are not alone.  I have had the same problems with saving an animation to an .avi file.  It is such a persistant problem that I no longer try to do animations.  It is not the video card.  I have an Nvida Quadro FX-3400 with the SW approved driver.  My VAR could not figure it out either, so we gave up.

Timelord,
Well that stinks. I have an animation job due on a limited time schedule. The previous animations I did were fine. How frustrating.

RE: Animation graphics

sgordo & Timelord ... what version of SW & SP are you using?

Are you able to increase your RAM?

I know there are plenty of successful SW animators using this forum.

I am running SW 2005, SP4.0. I have a 1 year old Dell Precision 670 with dual 2.8 GHz processors and 1 gig of RAM.  Win XP Pro Version 2002 (service pack 2).  Should be one of the best systems available for SW and still I have problems.

RE: Animation graphics

If the option was grayed out then the card you are using is not supported and you should highly consider getting a new one.

RE: Animation graphics

Try a different VIDEO COMPRESSION option.
I had to try a few myself...
But I don't recal the one that worked.
