The released version of SW2006 is available for download on the SW website.  Enjoy...

RE: SW2006 available for download

I had noticed SP0 earlier today, but just thought it was for the 2006 EV.

RE: SW2006 available for download

So anyone had the cajones to download yet? Anyone's computer burst into flame? Has it poked anyone's eye out?

RE: SW2006 available for download

I'm not updating until I receive the CD's. I was informed you can't update to future new SP's with the downloaded version.

You can update the downlaod version with a service pack, but you need the CDs.

In my experience, life is always much easier if I wait for the CD's...

RE: SW2006 available for download

I've downloaded and have been using for a week.  I was using the EV version for 3 weeks before that.  I've noticed a few issues but for the most part everything seems to be just fine.  For my work anyway.

RE: SW2006 available for download

I think SW06 is going to be a much better release then they have had in the past. So far things are looking good from my stand point.

All you have to do is DL 0.0 and when you get the CD's you put them in an update your SP0.0 to SP0.0 of the CD's... it's painless and it doesn't affect anything, other then pointing the SW install at a "registry level" that next time you upgrade to the next SP to look at the CD-rom for the SP0.0 CD's.

RE: SW2006 available for download

I've tried to download it a coupel times, but it always crashes. I don't know if our server isn't up to the task, or what. I'll have to wait for the CDs. It's a shame, because I'm between projects right now and have some time to play with it. I know it has some features I could really use.

RE: SW2006 available for download

SolidWorks 2006 is a real heart breaker for me.  Downloaded and installed just hours after release to SW website.  I am very disapointed.  Make a change to almost any part in an assembly and 3/4 of all mates in your assembly will lose their references.  Section views only show about half of the parts. It goes on and on.  I have spent half of my time with tech help with little resolution.  I miss 2004

RE: SW2006 available for download

Did you do a clean install or an update? A clean insall is recommended.

RE: SW2006 available for download

Kent0119,

I was having similar problems in the EV version.  I reported to tech support and recieved SPR #'s for the issues.  Last time I checked the SPR's were listed as open but I have noticed this problem much less in the 0.0 full release. It hasn't been show stopping for me (its only a couple of mates here and there and they are easy to re-attach).  I'm running SW2006 along side SW2005 and I was wondering if this was partly to blame.

RE: SW2006 available for download

Kent0119 ... Also, did you update the file to SW06 version before  making any changes?
Hope you made backups of SW04 version files before trying SW06!

RE: SW2006 available for download

Update to original post,

I had done a clean install with Anti-Virus turned off and left 2005 on my computer.

Tech help got back to me with some good help.  Mirrored parts do not seem to work for me in 2006. Eliminating all mirrored parts has eliminated almost all rebuild/mate errors. However the tech suggestion of creating mirrored parts, saving them in IGES format and then reinserting them into the assembly a "dumb" parts has not worked because 2006 does not seem to recognize IGES files. Making new "opposite" parts is slow but working. No solution to missing parts in drawings as of yet.

Thank You for the responses,
                            Kent

RE: SW2006 available for download

Kent0119,

I should have mentioned.  All my issues mentioned above have been with mirroed parts.  I'm actually having a tough time with it today.  Mirroed parts seem to lose all their face id's and you have to continually reattach things when you make a change.

RE: SW2006 available for download

Obviously the part/assy should not be losing the face IDs, but that is another good reason to set up & use planes for creating features & mating parts.

RE: SW2006 available for download

My experience has showed that with 2006 it does not matter what you mate to, planes, faces or other, a mirrored part in an assembly will cause rebuild errors if ANY part in the assembly is changed.

Tech help has now suggested that I try saving my mirrored parts as "parasolid binary" files and reinserting them into the assembly.  I have not tried this yet.  Saving as "IGES" did not work.
