Solidworks Sketch Help ?? ?

Solidworks Sketch Help ?? ?

(OP)
How do I make solidworks not rotate the view one-eighty, from the view that I orginally want to draw on, I really dislike using the alt and right arrow keys to draw on the orginal view that I have picked?

Not clear.
Try: Tools/Options/View Rotation

To pick the view on a model you want to draw on, first pick the face you want your sketch on, then while holding the "ctrl" button, pick the face you want to be "pointing up" (for lack of a better word), and press the "Normal To" button on your standard view toolbar.

You know it never fails to amaze me the
hidden secrets that I still learn about

RE: Solidworks Sketch Help ?? ?

You guys may be able to permantly change that sketched orientation by using the sketch modify tool under Tools/Sketch Tools.

The catch to using this tool is that there must be some geometry in the sketch, and no external relations present to rotate it.

RE: Solidworks Sketch Help ?? ?

Good Tip smcadman It's nice to know these things upfront about orienting a sketch. I know Pro/E users like me have always found it great to have a chance to pick the orientation when starting a sketch.

I've used what Gildashard mentions above mostly cause I find it easier to sketch a point and hit rotate if I was modeling quickly, because you can fix it after the fact more easily than canceling the sketch and repicking references.
