Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal

(OP)
Can anyone point me in the direction of a clear, up-to date guide to bending sheet metal. I'm looking for typical bending procedures for making housings look esthetically pleasing, whil making them structuraly sound.

RE: Sheet Metal

Cincinnati has a great bending booklet called "Cincinnati Press Break Capacities" form number PT-50691.  Get one from your Cincinnati Representative.  It is a great book for understanding forming of metals.

RE: Sheet Metal

dynabach,

forming sheet metal is a well established process.  Even references from 30 years ago will provide good information.  Also, most decent CAD systems have sheet metal applications that are quite sophisticated.  The formed part models can also be analysed with numerous FEA applications that are compatible with most any CAD software.

These are wonderful times to be a designer or analyst.
