Electromagnet Design

(OP)
Hi,
I am trying to design an electromagnet which will produce 350mT magnetic field, available current is 350mA from 12V supply, Size of the magnet is a big issue for the device so as small as possible ( 30mm wide*25mm high)approximatelly. I m totally new for electromagnets so It would be great if someone suggest me the core material and size, number of turns and wire size, and any other useful information please.

Many thanks

Azz

RE: Electromagnet Design

Just to be sure.. You mean milliTesla?  And you are talking 12VDC?

RE: Electromagnet Design

What king of electromagnet? Tubular? open case? E shape?

Where is the location of the 350mT magnetic field with reference to the pole?

Why are you asking for magnetic field strength instead of pull force of a pluner from a specified distance.

Hi,
Yes the pulling force need to be 350 milli Tesla, and the power supply is 12VDC. It will be an open case (round) electromagnet. The optimum voltage setting is 7VDC and Optimum Current setting will be 330mA. Maximum power rating should be 6 Watts. The location of the force should be at one end of the core. I need this magnetic field strength to capture information from a blood sample reaction. It is a handheld diagnostic system which will test the concentration of something in a blood or urine sample for example.

Many thanks

I am sorry but force units are Kg, Newtons, Lb but never Tesla. Tesla is magnetic flux density unit. I think you should seek a consultant that will help you.

By the way where are you from?

Israelkk,

Pulling force mean magnetic force (magnetic field strength) and thats why I used Tesla. sorry for the inconvenience.
I am from poland (Warsaw).
Urself?

RE: Electromagnet Design

I am from Israel.
