Power Distribution

(OP)
Main service is 400 amps. Would like to break it down to 2-200 amp breaker panels. I plan to then send 100 amp over to the pole barn and 100 amps over to the horse barn. The rest of the power will be used for the home. Is there anything special I need to do and what could you recommend. Can I juct conntect my cables from the 200 service main breakers up to the 400 amp meter box and use 100 amp breakers to distribute over to the barns? Thanks

RE: Power Distribution

Is the main service 200 or 400 amps?  Assuming you have 400 amp. service I recommend you replace your main panelboard with a 400amp MCB panelboard that is equipped with 1-200amp circuit breaker and 2-100amp circuit breakers.  You can use the circuit breakers to feed whatever building you want.  Also review your local codes, grounding becomes tricky.
