Large diameter lateral

Large diameter lateral

The designer needed a lateral of 34"x24" and we don't want to spend any engineering time on it, where I could find manufacturers or catalogues on this kind of large dia fittings?

Thanks.

RE: Large diameter lateral

It might help to know what material you're dealing with, and what application.  A 34" pipe size is an odd size, check with the manufacturer of the pipe itself for starters.

Pipe material is 316L SS. for LP steam. Steam comes out from for 4 equipments (26" outlet piping each)than piped into a 34" header. Room space is very very limited, we need to get the dimmensions of the fittings before we could map out the equipment arrangement.

RE: Large diameter lateral

As far as I know, odd size SS fittings (IE, forged ells, tees, wyes, and the like) just aren't available as stock items.  I recall some years back trying to track down a 42" SS ell, and finally located one, only to find out it was segmented from pipe.

One of the AWWA standards includes "standard" dimensions for segmented fittings (for water works service), but they aren't a strict requirement, and could be made tighter radiused if conditions required.

You might try contacting local pipe suppliers and contractors to see who does this in your area (where are you at, by the way?)  If they don't furnish SS pipe in thoses sizes, ask them who does, and call them.

RE: Large diameter lateral

AWWA M11 is the standard referred to By J Stephen.

Suggest you design to the pressure vessel code for insurance purposes. You could let a design and fabricate sub contract to a shop with this capability.
