Active grain density calculation

Active grain density calculation

Active grain density calculation

(OP)
Hi,
I need a method of calculating/predicting the active grain density on the grinding wheel for predictive modelling work.
Any help would be gratefully received..

RE: Active grain density calculation

Hi,

What kind of wheel are you loooking at?

I used Normal distribution for the grain heights for electroplated wheels. Measurements seemed to match well. I could calculate the active grain densiy from there depending on the wheel wear. The work is published in the 2004 ASME Journal of Mfg Sci. Let me know if you need any more info.

Good Luck,
Rama

I am looking at CBN wheels, I have been trialling a normal distribution technique from Hou and Komanduri in the journal of machine tools and manufacture, which gives some strange results at high removal rates. If you could point me to the paper you have been looking at I would be grateful....
