Copying components for use in another assembly

Copying components for use in another assembly

(OP)
I have a fairly dense assembly, with many components I use repeatedly in other assemblies. So far I've used "copy" to pick up a component from the open assembly, and "paste" to drop it into the target assembly.

Suddenly today It doesn't seem to work. I can't even "copy" a component of "this" assembly, and paste it in again for use "over there". When I select a component, and pick "copy" from the top tool-bar, I get an XP error "Item not collected, format not supported by Office clipboard."

I really make extensive use of this feature, as I leverage prior engineering for current use, without having to re-originate a part, and without having to dig through layers of subdirectories, and PLM's to find the part I need. This is for PEAK speed, consistency (across designs) and accuracy.

Is it possible that I-T or I myself have made a change to my system that now prevents this copy-paste technique?

Thanks-
C. Fee
