SpaceBall "Orientation"

It's ironic - just the other day - I had all sorts of good things to say about my SpaceBall. Now today - I have a problem. I think I must've jinxed it...

I loaded the latest drivers V2-2-4 (previously running V1-3-0) & now I can't re-orient the thing the way I like it. So that lifting up/down = zoom in/out. That's the way that made sense to me when I first got it & that's the way I set it up. Now I either can't remember how to set it up - or the latest drivers no longer have that option. So I re-loaded my old drivers & still have the same problem.

No - I didn't re-boot. Our computer support department won't let us have admin priveleges on our PCs. The only reason I have them now is I needed to load SP4.0 for SolidWorks - so she temporarily gave me privelages yesterday. Now she's already set me back with no priveleges & if I re-boot I'll loose the ability to load programs.

Can somebody confirm for me that the latest drivers no longer have this option?

I'm waiting on an e-mail from tech support. I'll post their reply when I get it.

OK - I un-installed all the drivers - then re-loaded my older ones & I got my settings back. But still - can somebody confirm for me that the new drivers are "lacking"?

RE: SpaceBall "Orientation"

My recent issue with the Spaceball is that when I opened SW05 or 06 up the CPU was running at 10% or so. When I opened a part and it finished opening it and I was doing nothing, every thing was shutdown except SW. The CPU was then running at 100% all the time. Ran like an blind old lady using a walker... Slooooooooow!

I found by turning the add-in on and off that fixed the issue. So I updated the dirver to the latest, and that fixed it for about 2 days. Today I had the same issue with SW06 only. I repaired the drivers and now every thing is good... Maybe in 2 more days I can look forward to doing the same thing again... Weeeeee!

Maybe this will help some of you out there that have seen this.

I got my answer. I needed to click...
START > PROGRAMS > 3DCONNEXION > 3DCONNEXION_3DXWARE > SHOW_3DXWARE_CONTROL_PANEL

Simple enough...

Thanks Peter (3d Connexion Help Desk)
