condensation issue at the grilles for gymnasium

condensation issue at the grilles for gymnasium

(OP)
I have an issue with condensation on exposed supply grilles. This new rooftop d/x with VFD in a new gymnasium is experiencing condensation on supply grilles and exposed ductwork. The building is under construction. The unit need to cool the sapce and remove the humidity so the floors can be installed. The unit is sized for many people while they are playing. The unit may be cycling off too quickly. How can we utilize the VFD to possibly lower the CFM volume and increase the time before the space thermostat cycle off the d/x. What is the main cause and remedies for this system.

RE: condensation issue at the grilles for gymnasium

I would increase the CFM (VFD) to it's highest setting.  The will force the unit to work on more air thus causing the supply temp to be higher.  This should reduce sweating.

RE: condensation issue at the grilles for gymnasium

You have said that the building is under construction.  Are you having any openings through which outside air is leaking into the building ?

RE: condensation issue at the grilles for gymnasium

Increase the Outside Air / Return Air ratio of the AHU so that the building is slightly pressurized.  This will stop outside air being leaked into the building.
