Need info concerning M-90 Register and VM-65-S meter
(OP)
We have a GE M-90 Register being used on a VM-65-S meter to monitor power usage in our Lithium Carbonate mill (4160V power and it is transformed down to 480V for the meter/register). Our billing personnel are taking the numbers from this meter and multiplying them by 288 to get a cumulative Kwh for each month. According to the M-90 Register info, a multiplier doesn't appear to be necessary as it should record Kwh directly along with max KW demand, cumulative KW demand, etc. When asked what this multiplier refers to, no one could come up with an answer. The meter/register is also showing red lights - but nothing in the M-90 refers to warning lights and we haven't been able to find out any information on the meter itself. Is anyone familiar with this type of equipment and do you have any idea what the conversion number and red lights refer to???
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide! Sherry

Here is links to the technical information and trouble shooting guide for the M90-register:

Normally, a multiplying factor is used when you use VTs and CTs with a kWh meter. (multiplying factor = voltage factor x current factor) Your voltage factor will be 8.66, say 9 (4160/480) because you transform the voltage down from 4160V to 480V. I suspect you are also using CTs with a ratio of 32 (288/9) - thus something like 160/5 CTs.
The new numerical kWh-meters/registers do the multiplying factor automatically (you have to program it) but it do not seem as if the M-90 Register can do it if I read through the manual.
