I'm a student on a work placement and I've got the following question. In our company we use a circulationpump to mix a solution, and bring this solution on pH (batch proces without stirring).
I want to know how you calculate the minimal mixingtime to make this homogeneous.
Where can I find this or how to calculate this.

A quick answer from common engg practice:

time = (3* volume)/circ rate

Try looking at Levenspiel's "Chemical Reaction Engineering" for some deeper understanding.  But in reality it will depend upon the nature of the fluid/suspension, if for example it is a yield stress fluid all you will do is short circuit and never mix the tank.
