step files to solidworks

i am using 2005 sp4 and i have some step sheetmetal files that i want to bring into solidworks and convert but its not working using fearureworks, anyone any ideas?

RE: step files to solidworks

Why don't you use insertbends for the imported files?

However it will not matter if the Sheetmetal isn't one thickness or the bends are not true arc bends.

RE: step files to solidworks

Hi,

You can try to import it.... then in the sheetmetal module you can use the Insert Bends tool, you must create a solid body, then use Insert Bends to convert the part to sheet metal.

Give it a try.....I've done it before and worked fine...

RE: step files to solidworks

My mistake! My last statement doesn't read like I wanted it too above.

The imported body must be one thickness for the Insert bends to work. The other thing about inserting bends on a imported body is that the Bends must be true arcs.

Hopefully that helps you understand my last statement above.
