Rev control using PDM Works

Rev control using PDM Works

(OP)
All,
I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on this question. The company where I work, in the upper right of the drawing we have a box with 6 fields broken up into 2 rows. The first row would read left to right "Rev", "Realese/ECO #", and "Release/ECO Date". The second row is identical. In the first row we would like to keep the orignal checked in rev with its initial Realease number and date. The second row we would like to populate with the most current rev in PDM.
We have thought of just having different properties in the part drive the top row in the drawing for its AR release. If we do this then, when we check the part into PDM for release, both rows will read the same. Example: A  AR-XXXX    07-18-05 (1st row)A  AR-XXXX  07-18-05 (second row).
Essentialy what we want is for a way to have PDM/or SW lock the values in the first row, and put the most current rev info in the second row. Any ideas???

Thanks,
Brad

RE: Rev control using PDM Works

How about making the first row just a note, entered when the drawing is created, with no links to any properties?

SolidWorks 2005 SP01.1
Intel Xeon 2.8GHz 2GB Ram
NVIDIA Quadro FX700 128MB

If it were made a note and we type in the "Rev" as A, "Release #" as AR-xxxx, and date, we would still need the second row to have fields to be automatically populated by PDM as "rev", "release #" and date. So on intial check in to PDM, we would have to fill in these fields in PDM and it would automatically be filled in on the drawing. Now both rows would be identical.
