Dims transfer

(OP)
Good morning to all,
Ok I am working with family tables and then creating dwgs in a single file with multiple sheets for the various members of the family table. The probs is that I add the first model to the sheet No. 1 and then do all the dimensioning and notes, then I add the second sheet and then add the second member of the family table to that sheet, but I have to do all the dimensioning and notes again on the 2nd sheet. Is there any way by which u can just do a complete dwg on the first sheet for the first member of the family table and then sawp models with other members of FT on the following sheets without re-doing the dims/notes. Say something like copying the sheet 1 to 2 and then replacing the model on the 2nd sheet with the 2nd member of FT. Suggestions any...Raj.

RE: Dims transfer

You can move the view from your second page to the first page and swap dimensions, then put the view back on your second page.

or

if the view on the second page is just a instance, then "save as" the drawing under a new name, load it in memory, switch the instance and you'll get the dimensioning for your new instance. Save it again. Then iopen the first drawing and APPEND the last drawing to it. Yo'll got what yoiu want in judt few minutes.

Ok fine & how do you append the 2 files....Raj.

RE: Dims transfer

Raj,

You are on r2001 correct?... append isn't on file

so you want to go thru the same process... dim the generic then  replace with different instance... save that under new name

start new drawing . empty and use drawing>advanced>merge

Yup fine & thanks for the tip, Raj.
