X-ray detector design

(OP)
Does anyone have any experience designing X-ray detectors?

X-ray intensity will be read out on a panel meter from 0 to some value. X-ray level will be fairly low.

Should a Geiger tube be used, a halogen Geiger tube, a scintillation detector or something else?

Has anyone used a halogen Geiger tube? If so what manufacture/type was used and what were the results?

Thanks
Carl Pugh
