Change Set Pressure of PRV

Change Set Pressure of PRV

Change Set Pressure of PRV

(OP)
I have an existing PRV with set pressure at ~24 barg. This valve will be relocated to install in the new location with lower design pressure (non-U stamp vessel). The required new set pressure is ~10 barg. Should we consider to reuse this valve? I would like to order the new valve for such location. However, the management team requirement is utilizing of the existing valve.

The calculated orifice area for the new location is closed to the existing valve. However, I never change the set pressure of PRV in this range. Please comment.

RE: Change Set Pressure of PRV

Collect the make, model number, serial number and any modifications that have been made to the PRV and call the vendor.  They are the best ones to answer this question.

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Change Set Pressure of PRV

Such a large set-pressure change will undoubtedly require a new spring for the valve.  Latexman is right.  Contact your vendor, or an ASME-approved repair facility certified for that brand of valve.

Thanks for the comment. I'm in process to contact the vendor.

In my understanding, after change the spring, both tightness test and pop test is necessary. If you have further comment, please inform me.
