Sump pump dimension

Sump pump dimension

Sump pump dimension

(OP)
Help me, Plz.
Pump that using elbow intends to have the fluid in tank(or tower) to transfer to outside.
Let me know the ideal dimension concerning sump dimension.

In elevation view, H(water level), B(distance from suction center line to back wall of tank)
C(distance from the end of suction inlet to tank bottom) are given.
S(suction nozzle type like a bell type)

What is the ideal dimension of sump pump to transfer securely under the other variables are constant ?

RE: Sump pump dimension

Dear wookiyo, your message is totally unclear - I suggest you re-phrase your question detailing first what you have, secondly, what you wish to achieve, thirdly what the question really is.
Just a remark to add weight -> " under the other variables are constant " ?!?

RE: Sump pump dimension

With the H, B, C dimensions given, (presumably by the pump manufacturer) the other variables I can think of are those that affect inlet flow.  Inlet flow needs to be as uniform(straight toward the pump) as possible, with a low velocity, say 2-3 ft/sec max.  Check Hydraulic Institute publications or Cameron Hydraulic book.

Also, be carefull of NPSH requirements. Depending on the fluid pumped, this can be very different than the required submergence(liquid height required above the pump bell).

Once pump reliability is taken care of, the overall sump dimensions will depend on what you are using it for and plant practices. (e.g. does sump need to be able to contain the entire volume of the largest vessel draining to it, a certain time period of expected flow to the sump, etc.)
