Stainless Steel Type 430 Recrystallization Temp.

What is the recrystallization temperature for type 430 cold rolled sheet when being annealed?

RE: Stainless Steel Type 430 Recrystallization Temp.

The recrystallization temperature of metals is a function of alloy content, time at temperature and the amount of prior cold work.

For your specific case, you probably would need to determine the recrystallization temperature by experimentation with various annealing heat treatments.

Metengr,

Thank you for your response. I almost knew the answer as soon as I posted the question. I guess what I was hoping for was an absolute minimum temperature regardless of alloy content and time at temperature for a set amount of prior cold work. I think I can predict the answer to this question too.

Per Cartech literature, the minimum annealing temperature after cold work is 1400F. The recrystallization temperature will be somewhat lower; I suspect in the range of 1200F-1300F. As metengr stated you will have to determine the actual. You may be able to obtain the range directly from Cartech or another manufacturer by calling them directly.
