Maintaining Fire alarm system during renovation

Maintaining Fire alarm system during renovation

(OP)
I have a school builiding on a campus style school, that is going to be renovated.  No part of the building will be in use during the renovation.  Is it still necessary for the contractor to maintain an operational fire alarm system during the renovation process or is this not necessary since the building is unoccupied except for the construction workers?

RE: Maintaining Fire alarm system during renovation

I don't think there is an exact code quote for this situation.  Most times, I get my answer from the AHJ or the insurance company.

RE: Maintaining Fire alarm system during renovation

usually a manual fire watch will be required...or should be provided
