What is Duromer ?

hi,i am new here , i got a question about Duromer , can someone describe its molecule structure and their characteristic?
or show me the website i can find more info about it ? thansk

RE: What is Duromer ?

It is not a substance, so it has no molecular structure to describe.

If it is spelt with a capital "D" It is the name of a company here in Sydney Australia. We compound engineering plastics.

If it is spelt with a small "d" it is a measurement of surface hardness, whereby the distance a specified ball can embed into the surface of a material at a specified force (or the distance might be fixed and the force measured). It's been to long since I did it.

RE: What is Duromer ?

Hi maddog153,

imho there is another meaning of duromer. It is used also for heavily crosslinked polymers, usually handled as liquids with a hardener/crosslinker. Think phenolic resins (Bakelite), epoxi resins, hard rubber (ebonite). It was the main polymer material early last century before thermoplastics came up but is still an important class of materials.
