Wood/Timber Design

(OP)
I am looking for a design guide to assist me in the design of boardwalks, fixed piers, and timber retaining walls.

I've done alot of concrete, steel, masonry design but not much wood/timber so any help is appreciated.

Thanks

RE: Wood/Timber Design

Another good resource is:  http://www.wwpa.org

Good reference book is "Wood Construction Engineering and Construction" published by Mcgraw-Hill.

Also, the American Wood Council (NDS - 2001) at http://www.awc.org/index.html

Just go to the links pages and you'll have more references than you know what to do with...

Another good site is: http://www.aitc-glulam.org/

Browse through the Publications section for many pdf's.

RE: Wood/Timber Design

"Timber Bridge Design, Construction, Inspection & Maintenance" may not be exactly what you want, but it is a free (.pdf version) and comprehensive basic book. You can download the 940+ pages (32 MB), a chapter at a time, from this link
http://www.fs.fed.us/na/wit/pdf/timberbridgespub

This .pdf document on timber retaining walls may be more what you are looking for
