Standard Drum Size Outside of US

Standard Drum Size Outside of US

Standard Drum Size Outside of US

(OP)
In the US, the 'standard' drum size is the venerable 55-gallon drum.

Does that standard vary country-by-country?
What standards are used elsewhere?
I'm specifically interested in China, India, & the EU (Dutch & Brit votes notwithstanding...)

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

Volume is same, nevertheless, we Indians call it a 200liter drum.

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

the 55 is un standard I believe, along with 30 and 15.

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

We used to call it a 44 gal drum, now they are 205 or 209 litres,I don't know why the discrepancy, the drums appear to be the same physical size.Of course the 44 gal drum was Imperial gallons, but I don't think there are US litres?

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

don't get drum volume and oil barrel volume confused. the standard "barrel" of oil is 42 gallons.

LadaTrouble, here in the US, we generally don't use litres, Imperial units still rule the roost. It's a pain in the butt, but it is what it is.

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

Agree with quark in India it is 200 litre volume drum

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

Don't forget that it takes 1.201 US gallons to equal 1.0 imperial gallon which is used in most other countries.

"Your" 55 gallon drum is probably fairy close in physical size to "our" 44 gallon drum.

RE: Standard Drum Size Outside of US

In the UK it is a 40 gallon drum, and if requested in Litres,  it hold 205 ltrs. Regards    CM
