A test

A test

(OP)
During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the
Director what criteria that defines a patient to be
institutionalized. Well, said the Director, we fill up a
bathtub, we offer a teaspoon, a teacup, and a bucket
to the patient and ask the patient to empty the bathtub.

Okay, here's your test:

1. Would you use the spoon?
2. Would you use the teacup?
3. Would you use the bucket?

(I hope many engineers will pass this test).

RE: A test

CODE

I would pull the drain plug out.
Am I an engineer now?
Or should I book a room at the local asylum?

RE: A test

I think none of the above.

I'll just pull the stopper out of the drain.

RE: A test

I'd use the teaspoon to get the plug out (assuming the water's too hot to stick my hand in).

RE: A test

Personally I'd put the bucket on my head and pretend I was a tea-pot.

RE: A test

A star for you Corus, I needed a good laugh today.  Thank you!

RE: A test

While an optimist says, "The glass is half-full" and the pessimist says, "The glass is half-empty", the engineer says, "The glass is oversized for it's load"

RE: A test

I would have a looong, nice bath. When I do that, missus comes saying: Don't do that - you are getting all wrinkles. And pulls the plug.

If I am lucky, I will get something to drink in the cup. Perhaps I will sit on the bucket (turned upside down - if my stomach is well, that is) and stir my drink with the spoon.

So the answer probably is that I will use all of them.
