Performance difference between RA253MA and 253MA
Performance difference between RA253MA and 253MA
(OP)
I specified "RA253MA" as the Mat'l of CFB Vortex Finder, but the bidder proposed changing to "253MA".
Can anybody tell me if there is a big deal if RA253MA is replaced with 253MA?
Thanks.

RE: Performance difference between RA253MA and 253MA
The reason for this that the composition of this alloy was patented and is/was made under license for the patent holder. Several major steel producers make the steel under various product names.
This material is one of a family of high temperature Austenitic Stainless Steels. The MA stand for Micro Alloyed, with rare earth elements to enhance the high temperature properties.
