Force-Displacement Method for Trusses

Force-Displacement Method for Trusses

Force-Displacement Method for Trusses

(OP)
Hi,

I've been out of school for 16 years now but recently got into post grad studies in structural engineering. There is a dearth of text books inh Nigeria here. Does any one out there know of an online resource for info on analysis of indeterminate trusses using the the Forec-displacement method. Also tell me if there is a differnce between this method and the other 2 methods of Force and displacement, which is easy to find in most structures text books.

Regards,

Audu

Guys,

My supervisor recently dug out an ancient Text on te force-displacement method written by Smolira...it's very interesting actually and has got me started. What it is: he wants me to write a program using FEM or Direct stiffness Method (honestly, i do not see any difference between the two methods wrt trusses)and verify my results using the force-displacement method.

surprisingly, i have written the program for both 2d and 3d analysis and it has worked thus far!...still testing it, though. thanks for all your help at eng-tiops that got me started.

regards,

john audu
