How do you determine fan and motor size to build a vertical wind tunne

How do you determine fan and motor size to build a vertical wind tunne

(OP)
Can anyone tutor me as to how I can determine motor size, speed, and fan size to drive a vertical wind tunnel?  I would like to determine the requirements for a given size wind tunnel with an 8 feet diameter flight area.  I am thinking of using 3-4 separately ducted fans and would like to learn the power requirements to do this.

RE: How do you determine fan and motor size to build a vertical wind tunne

The first thing you need to do, is to figure the quantity and velocity of the air in the tunnel.
Use the formula Q=AV where Q=the quantity of flow, A is the cross sectional area of the duct and V= the velocity of the airstream.
With this information, you can then use a fan manufacturers perfomance charts to get the rest of your information.

Thanks very much for the rapid response to my question.
I will apply this information and see what I come up with.
Best regards,
