Berringer has a nice web site that depicts some of their metal roof machines with downloadable pdfs and jpgs. Probably the best approach would be to go out to a large metal roof installation project that is using some of their portable machines and get some ideas.

You are not designing the machine, only the rolls, is not it? The distance between stations is a function of the thickness and of the amount of deformation between stages.
You might ask for an offer for a machine for your product and get ideas.

The one shop that I know makes ridge vents/caps from steel was forming them in a machine that used three passes. On 26 ga and probably the other ga I know they rolled each side by setting the rolls for different pitches then would break the peak to the same pitch. I understand that the have now have a better system that is less labor intensive. This might be an approach that would require less investment and be far less complicated that a full stand.
Every time I go by this shop I just think about not being in this business in our area. Before Hurricane Ivan this shop had 1 roll stand that was pushed to make 20' panels. 9 months later they have three stands that can roll 40' lengths, the old stand + two newer short roll stands, a new flashing and ridge cap shop, and a new conditioned air coil storage and his wife doesn’t have to keep the books any more.
